Cyberdecks are cool. These hand-built, customized, specialized computers are all I've been seeing on my feeds lately.
This weekend, I started to consider making one. Now, I have some background soldering and working with electronics. I was really into guitar effects and circuit bending as a teenager. However, I am intimidated by cyberdecks. I just don't know what components are needed. I mean, I know in an abstract way, but not the specifics of, which can make me feel a bit overwhelmed.
The other issue is I don't know why I need one. I just like the way they look and have a passing interest in SBC (single-board computers). Maybe that's enough? I don't really need to make it for some task or specialized need.
Perhaps it's more of a craft, and the act of making it is the reason to make it. Is that enough to spend money on it? I don't know, I have a hyperfixation almost every week. So I tend to run through research, buying, then dropping all the time.
Which gave me an idea!
Today, I'm kicking off Cyberdeck Week. Each day I'll post cyberdeck information and my thoughts around it. Sharing what I find and why I want to pursue it as a hobby may scratch the itch or lead to me realizing that it's more than an itch.
Now, I just wonder if I can stay focused on one topic for a week.
